Customer designer of premiums and retail products, Buzz, recently commissioned a major fitout of its office and production studio in Melbourne.
The brief was to fully utilise all natural light, give staff an office inducing high morale, and to procure and maintain a minimalist theme throughout the premises.
The 30-person office – which has scores of jobs on the development and design line at any given time – deals in top level consumer marketing and wanted a studio with a trendy appearance that was also practical, modular and affordable.
Buzz owner (and qualified architect) Leonard Hamersfeld commissioned Australian company Morfurniture to design and fit its Speedframe aluminium product and accessories.
“Our success is founded on having a creative and conceptual edge when managing entire product development processes, from the first brief through to product design and manufacture and delivery,” said Mr Hamersfeld.
“So we wanted a fitout to aesthetically identify with our own mission statement while ensuring it allowed our internal processes to function smoothly.
“Morfurniture is skilled in reading basic design drawings, hence they were able to quickly put in practice the arrangement we needed.
“It has given us versatility, strength, looks, and a demountable system for flexibility.”
“To coordinate a polished look and maximise the OH&S factor on the premises, a ‘Moduline’ conduit system was included to house wires and other power cables.”
Buzz staff now enjoy modern workstations, display racks and cabinets made from Speedframe.
Graphic artists’ workstations have been configured to include a light box and the Speedframe system is also used in its kitchen for cabinets and bulk heads.
The office library has been configured with Speedframe to maximise both the usage of space and natural light penetration. Wherever job shelving is required, general racking has been erected with a high level of space efficiency.
“We are pleased to have combined the minimalist look we desired with strong penetration of natural light using Speedframe’s Twin Wall partitioning system (strong, translucent plastic panels),” Said Mr Hamersfeld.
“Storage areas are very space efficient and, as is the case with all the Speedframe equipment, should we have the urge to change the configuration it can be done quite easily.
Speedframe is a tubular aluminium framing system that has a high level of strength and the appearance of stainless steel.
Due to Speedframe’s patented design, on-site assembly can be done quickly and easily. Speedframe’s aluminium die-cast connectors (square or rounded) not only make for a strong connection, they also allow for different powder coating options.
Pre-finished tubes and accessories have end-caps to ensure a neat finish, while only simple tools are used to assemble the system. Should they be required, castors can be installed for movement or screw-in feet can be fitted to level or lift items from the floor.
